A very exciting place to visit, it is one of the finest wildlife reserves in Australia, located off the coast of Adelaide, South Australia .Wildlife here is in abundance. Yes I mean it. It’s like you never have to strain your eyes or use your binoculars to spot an animal. They are just there. There are fairy penguins emerging from the sea and walking all across, porcupine like Echidna who also happens to be the only mammal in the world to lay eggs, after platypus. By the way, you can also spot platypus here. And then there are kangaroos and kangaroos and more kangaroos. They are native to this island and live and rake in its climate and vegetation.

Though the wildlife is the main attraction, Kangaroo islands have additional charms in the form of beautiful beaches which have a virgin-like aura around them, coral reefs which have taken ages to be formed and look spectacular, natural rock formations, the admiral arch, the forests, and its very own little desert. In fact it is hailed as the “Garden of Eden Down Under” because of such glorious diversity existing in one place.
So there is no dearth of sight-seeing and recreational activities in kangaroo islands. The best time to visit is between November-March with Christmas season being excessively busy. So accommodation can be a problem during Christmas-new year week. For rest of the periods, food and lodging isn’t a problem at all. Lots of hotels are there and tariffs range from $1000 till $15000 depending upon the status of the hotel and the time of visit. Kingscote is the residential and the commercial heart of the island, catering to all the needs of the tourists.
