Shanghai, China is a city of 100% zest and youth. Shanghai is very popular for the shopping streets and its street food.
The main street for shopping is “Qi Pu Lu”, this is the place where you can get all the electronic devices and other accessories like clothes, footwear, travel wear, etc… but you better lookout for followers on the streets, they are the kind of people who follow tourists and take them to their shops and sell you their goods at a higher price…they are agents who just do not stop following you throughout the shopping feast. Never pay any vendor over a price of $10; it is the maximum amount you can pay for anything on the streets. The main part about shopping on the streets in China is that you should know how to bargain because the product you buy there sounds cheap to you but it is a lot cheaper than that actually. Try and do a math while buying like reduce 75% of the money and you have your price of the product you buy on the street.
People brag bad things about authentic Chinese food, but when I tasted it I GOD-DAM loved it. It can get very smelly but it is worth a try once in your life time. But when you do please try and make it till the end with the chopsticks. Try out a good restaurant at the start and slowly move on to the streets. If you are a vegetarian then may lord save you and stay in a hotel next to McDonalds cause you’ll need it.
Travel in Shanghai is a major problem through public transport like taxis and buses because only about 2-3% of the people speak broken English and the rest don’t even know it. The best way to travel is through the subway as there are TC’s and helpers on the subway who help you in English. If you want to travel by road then grab a Chinese guy who knows English ask him all the tourist spots and translate them into English and Chinese on a piece of paper and use that to show it to a taxi . Also be very careful about fake money rotating around.
The temperature from April to June can be absolutely unpredictable, as it may be sunny in the morning and it can rain heavily in the afternoon or the temperature can drop up to 8-11′C (it could vary also). The city has an acrobatic show for tourists every Saturday, it is a must see if you visit Shanghai. But it is most favorable if you visit during the months of April to June. The winters can be very chilly from December to February….
So go ahead and visit this beautiful city.
